Welcome to the official website for Montclair Editors & Writers — aka MEWS — the nearly-800 member group of editors and writers of all kinds at all levels in and around Montclair, NJ.
This site exists because of the generosity and talents of Leian and Jean-Pierre Welch, husband and wife MEWSies — she’s a writer and blogger, he’s an IT expert — who volunteered to create and host it.
Mewsie.org is going to be the new headquarters for MEWS jobs, events, classes, and links to member sites. For now, send news and links to me, Pam Satran, at pam@mewsie.org, and I’ll post it on the site. My wonderful intern Danielle Miksza will be adding the entire MEWS email list to the RSS feed, so everyone should get MEWS email updates as they happen.
The MEWS Facebook group will still exist; you can post there directly. Jean-Pierre plans to add forums to this site too, so you can talk amongst yourself about finding freelance assignments, hiring writers, choosing classes, starting novels, or whatever else is relevant in the world of MEWS.
To celebrate the new site and honor Leian and Jean-Pierre for creating the site and launching our group into the future, I’m joining forces with Sarah Scalet, the technology editor of About.com, and Debbie Galant, founder and owner of baristanet, to host a MEWS microparty for everyone connected with technology: bloggers, tech writers, web editors and developers, etc. The date is Friday, June 5, 7:30 p.m. onward; the venue is my house; the format is Pot Luck Cocktails and Hors D’Oeuvres. Bring a bottle of wine or a pitcher of drinks and something to munch on; bring your spouse but leave your kids at home. RSVP to me a pam@mewsie.org and I’ll send you the address.
