From MEWSIE Laurie Lico Albanese:

GORDONHURST 129 WORKSHOP

Beginner Writing Workshop Suitable for those working on Memoir and Fiction with Autobiographical Roots

NEW SESSION BEGINNING MARCH 2010. Register today!

Writing a memoir is a challenging and rewarding undertaking. When we write about what’s happened to us, we take control of our lives. What are the stories we tell about ourselves? Are you the hero of your life story? If not, then who is? Who has grown with you, challenged you, stood in your way, guided you?  Each of us has overcome some physical, emotional, psychological, familial, or cultural hardship. Transforming these events and turning  them into accessible art is the memoirist’s task.

This intimate 10-week memoir workshop will address a specific element of writing at each meeting.   Targeted exercises will help writers brainstorm for material, create compelling characters from life, write dialogue, scenes of action and description, and understand plot.  Writers will narrow and sharpen their chosen topic, identify and form the narrative, deepen and expand their writing, and learn tools for effective revision.

Each workshop class will meet for 2 hours and will include a writing exercise, sharing of written work, and discussion.  For a course outline or more information please contact Laurie at  laurielicoalbanese@yahoo.com
