POSITION SUMMARY:
Edit and proof copy for Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Quarterly. This position is accountable for reading and editing editorial material for accuracy, including consistency, spelling, and punctuation. This position reports to the Vice President/Editor-in-Chief.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Edit monthly columns and articles accepted for publication; fact check, read copy to detect errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax, modifying copy as necessary to conform to publication’s style and marking copy for production and art director.
• Proofread page proofs for Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Quarterly.
• Maintain manuscript and reviewer databases.
• Process incoming manuscripts.
• Correspond with authors and manuscript reviewers. Process invoices for certain reviewers.
• Send acceptance or rejection letter to each author.
• Log information, including scores, codes, and dates.
• Write short pieces where needed for Strategic Finance.
• Phone contact with authors, reviewers, co-workers, members, subscribers, and clients.
• Assist Book Review Editor: Keep record of books available for review. Assign books to reviewers.
Correspond with reviewers, publishers, and PR reps. Solicit books for review.
• Help other departments with proofreading and editing as needed.
• Send authors copies of Strategic Finance.
• Perform other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Journalism or English degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of related experience.
• Strong copyediting, writing, proofreading, and organization skills.
• Proficiency with desktop publications software packages, Word, and Excel, preferably Office 2007. General knowledge of accepted publications industry practices.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
• Ability to interact effectively with others.
• Ability to work on several projects at the same time.
• Ability to adapt to changing work priorities.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
