Parents.com, the website for Parents magazine, is looking for an editorial intern to work in our midtown New York office. This is a paid position, and we consider our intern a full-member of our small editorial team. The intern will learn about and participate in all aspects of creating, producing, and promoting content for a high-traffic, growing website. This includes editing content for the web, participating in the Parents.com online community, optimizing content for search, developing tools and apps, and being part of our social media efforts. The ideal candidate is creative, hard-working, eager to learn, and able to juggle multiple projects at once.

The position is budgeted for 40 hours/week, but we’d consider fewer hours for the right candidate. Interested candidates should email their resume and cover letter to Michael Kress, executive editor, at Michael.Kress@meredith.com.

I’m a former reporter for New York Newsday and a former senior editor of The Village Voice, and this novel should be of interest to Montclair media people. It’s a quasi-literary novel that’s prescient (unintentionally) about the crisis in print journalism. It’s set in South Florida in 1998. Its other themes are the false seductiveness of Florida and the victimization of women.

“The Hurricane Murders” is available to order on Amazon books.
